Learn how to crochet a double crochet stitch step-by-step with this easy beginner’s guide. Includes photos, video and clear instructions for first-time crocheters! This stitch is a timeless classic that works up beautifully in clothing and blankets; it’s also a foundational stitch to many of the more complicated ones.
Each of my stitch tutorials has instructions for making a square. Once I finish this series of “How to Crochet…” I will show you guys how to put it together, and we will make a throw blanket using all the stitches we learned how to crochet.

Video Tutorial
For those who prefer using a video to learn, you can check out mine here on my Youtube channel.
Let’s begin

You’re going to start with a chain of 20.

Wrap your hook and find the 3rd chain from your hook. Insert and wrap your hook, pull through the first loop, this will leave 3 loops on your hook.

Wrap your hook and pull through 2 loops; this will leave 2 loops on your hook. Wrap your hook again and pull through the last 2 loops. You made your first double crochet!

Keep going until you finish your first row!

Continue repeating row two 10 more times; you’ll end with a total of 12 rows. Tie off and weave your ends in.
Congrats on finishing your square! I’ll see you next Thursday with another!
